ABOUT

Elevation Dance Studio is home of an extensive training program for dancers interested in taking their training to the next level. The program was specifically designed to provide all forms of dance essential to the current trends of professional dance. The goal of our program is to provide dancers with the best training available. This training helps our students to become very well rounded and competent dancers. This program is modeled after The Academy of Performing Arts, San Diego and has proven to be one of the West Coast's most successful training programs in dance.

The TRAINING PROGRAM, often referred to as the "scholarship program,” is by audition only. Auditions will take place at the Open House at Elevation Dance Studio on Monday August 22, 2011. Students will audition during classes that day and the schedule is as follows:

Ages 8-9 (1:30pm – 3:30pm)
Ages 10-12 (11:30am – 1pm)
Teens (4pm-6:30pm)

If you are unable to make it to the open house for the Scholarship Audition but would still like to be considered, please email renee@elevationdancestudio.com or call 970.871.1880.

Fall Scholarship Session runs September – January
Winter Scholarship Session runs February – May
*Scholarship students may have to re-audition for the winter session unless otherwise extended by Elevation Instructors.

FOR AUDITIONS:

  • Be prepared to do all styles of dance (all material provided by a panel of choreographers, no prepared material necessary).
  • Students should bring Tennis Shoes, Jazz, Ballet, & Tap shoes
  • Be sure to wear form fitting dance clothes (BAGGY CLOTHING OR SWEATS PERMITTED during the HIP HOP segment only). Be ready with a change of shoes (ballet, jazz, etc..)
  • Be advised that scholarship/apprentice recipients are based solely on "potential".
  • ADVICE TO APPLICANTS: Think of it as a class, relax, and have fun.
  • If you haven’t already filled out the scholarship application online, please bring a copy with you to the audition.

OTHER Scholarship & Apprenticeship Requirements

There will be a monthly tuition to cover the operating costs of dance classes. These fees are simply to cover the cost of the teachers, but will be at a fraction of the price regular students pay / class. These costs may vary from term to term. Tuition does not include special workshops.

The tuition rates are as follows:

  • 4 classes / Week = $100 / month

  • 5 classes / Week = $120/ month

  • 6 classes / Week = $150 / month

  • 7 classes / Week = $165 / month

Scholarship students will have an opportunity to work off some of the tuition costs in the classes they assist in, (apprentice classes,) at the rate of $5 / 1 hour class and $2.50 / half hour class. Once scholarship has been awarded, every student will meet with Artistic Director, Renee Fleischer to discuss apprenticeship options.

Front desk work, maintenance work, or support activities may also be available for Teen Scholarship students in order to work off tuition costs. Please check with Renee if this is of interest.

Recital / Costume Fees are not included in monthly tuition payments. Scholarship students are not required to perform in all classes they participate in each week but they must perform in the recital with at least 1 class. Scholarship students will have to pay the same costume fees as all other students and are not eligible for discounts on those costumes.

Additional funds may be available to help with tuition costs through www.steamboatdancetheatre.org
